True Velocity is a GPS-based speedometer and trip recorder for iPhone. It displays real-time speed using your device's built-in GPS, and lets you optionally record trips that are stored locally on your device.
Key features include:
The App works without requiring an internet connection. Speed calculations and trip statistics are performed locally on your device. Map Visualization uses Apple Maps, which may require an internet connection to load map tiles.
True Velocity relies on GPS data provided by your device. GPS accuracy may vary depending on signal strength, environmental conditions, satellite visibility, and hardware limitations.
The App is not a certified measuring instrument and should not be relied upon as the sole source of speed or distance information. Recorded trip statistics are best-effort estimates derived from GPS and should not be used for legal, regulatory, billing, insurance, or evidentiary purposes.
You are responsible for ensuring compliance with local laws and for using your vehicle's approved speedometer where required.
You are responsible for using the App safely and lawfully. Do not operate or interact with the App — including starting, stopping, pausing, or reviewing trip recordings — in a way that distracts you while driving or operating machinery. Set up the App before you begin moving, and review trip data only when stationary.
We are not responsible for accidents, injuries, fines, penalties, or damages arising from use of the App.
Trip recording is optional. It only runs after you have enabled Log Trips in the Trips screen (which requires granting Always-location permission so trips remain accurate when the screen locks) and have explicitly tapped the record button on the main screen to start a trip. You may pause and resume recording at any time during an active trip. While a trip is in progress, the App may use location services in the background so the trip remains accurate if your screen locks or you switch apps. Background location use ends as soon as you stop the trip.
If you enable Map Visualization in the Trips settings, the GPS coordinates of your route are saved locally on your device as part of each trip record, so the route can be displayed on a map. This feature is off by default. Route coordinates are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to the developer, to iCloud, or to any third party.
Trip summaries and any associated route data are stored only on your iPhone. You are responsible for any backup of trip data; uninstalling the App will permanently delete your trip history. The App applies minimum duration and distance thresholds and will discard recordings that do not meet them.
True Velocity includes a seven-day trial period. After the trial ends, a one-time purchase is required to continue using the app.
All payments are processed securely by Apple through Apple's In-App Purchase system. We do not receive or store your payment information.
To enable your purchase and trial status to follow you across your own devices, the App stores a small purchase-status record in your private iCloud database. This record contains no location or trip data.
Purchases are subject to Apple's terms and conditions.
You agree to:
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
We are not liable for:
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling the App will permanently delete any trip data stored on the device.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
