Terms of Use for Microscope AI

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Microscope AI application (“the App”), developed and maintained by David Picknell (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the App.

1. Description of the Service

Microscope AI is a tool for exploring, analysing, and comparing AI models. The App retrieves publicly available model information from online sources and uses a secure backend service to request AI-generated analysis (such as summaries, traits, quirks, and bias indicators) from third-party providers such as Groq. We do not operate, control, or guarantee the behaviour of any third-party AI models.

2. User Responsibilities

You agree that you will not use the App to:

• Submit unlawful, harmful, abusive, or misleading content;
• Violate intellectual property or privacy rights of others;
• Input sensitive personal data about others without permission;
• Interfere with, overload, or misuse any third-party AI provider or API;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, bypass, or disrupt the App’s backend services.

3. Third-Party Services

Microscope AI relies on third-party services, including but not limited to:

• Groq — for generating AI-powered analysis of model behaviour;
• OpenRouter and other public catalogues — for retrieving publicly available model data;
• Vercel — for hosting the backend service that processes analysis requests.

Your use of these services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review them:

We are not responsible for the availability, performance, pricing, or behaviour of these third-party services.

4. Purchases and Licensing

Microscope AI is a standalone app sold through Apple’s App Store. All purchases are processed using your Apple ID. We do not have access to or store your payment information.

Your purchase grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the App on devices associated with your Apple ID, in accordance with Apple’s terms and these Terms.

5. No Guarantee of AI Output

AI-generated analysis, summaries, traits, quirks, and bias indicators may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for certain decisions. We do not guarantee the correctness, interpretation, or usefulness of any AI output. You agree that you are solely responsible for how you use or act upon this information.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

• Any loss or damage resulting from reliance on AI-generated analysis or information;
• Service interruptions, rate limits, or unavailability of third-party providers;
• Loss, exposure, or misuse of data sent to third-party AI services;
• Indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages of any kind.

7. Termination

We may suspend or restrict your access to the App if we reasonably believe you are misusing it or violating these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your devices.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
